On the face of it, 2009 shapes up as a “new” season for Chris Dyson. There’s Dyson Racing’s new relationship with Mazda announced last week that will see the team running a brace of LMP2 Lola B08/86-Mazda MZR-Rs in the 2009 American Le Mans Series; make that two LMP2 Lola B08/86-Mazda MZR-Rs sponsored by BP Petroleum. With extremely heavy hearts, Porsche Cars North America and the Public Relations Department share the sad news that Bob Carlson passed away today. Arguably Porsche’s biggest fan and, to anyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with Bob, a genuine and generous soul, today Porsche has lost a dear family member, one who truly had Porsche and motorsports in his blood. ALMS Season Finale
Marco Werner and Lucas Luhr ended their championship season in fitting style Saturday with an overall victory for Audi Sport North America in the Monterey Sports Car Championships presented by Patr¢n. Werner passed Emanuele Pirro on a restart with 26 minutes left and won by 1.941 seconds at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It was the sixth overall victory of the season and eighth LMP1 victory of the season for the new class champions.All-Acura front row in Monterey
ALMS season finale
How’s this for a comeback? David Brabham took the pole position for the Monterey Sports Car Championships presented by Patr¢n at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Friday with a record-breaking run in Patr¢n Highcroft Racing’s Acura ARX-01b. Brabham’s time of 1:10.103 (114.928 mph) put the Acura prototype that he will share with Scott Sharp out front for the start of the season’s final race.
